Kruger National Park Birding Safari

The Kruger National Park provides an astonishing array of wilderness areas, diverse habitats, easy road access together with a wide variety of bird species. The diverse range of habitats caters for a bird list of over 500 species, while the productivity of these habitats is such that many species occur in abundance. Spotting birds in the Kruger National Park is relatively easy.

Depending on the season, one could expect to find about 200 species in about a week, if you know where to go. C’mon do it... ask us!

We usually prefer the habitats from the south and far north as the best birding areas. The Pafuri area is very good for spotting some specials!

Seasons:

The best time to view birds in the Kruger national park is during the wetter, but a lot hotter, Summer months (October to March), but birding is still very good during the drier Winter months.

Some specials we target in the Pafuri are:

Wattle-eyed flycatcher, yellow white-eye, Icterine warbler, marsh warbler, river warbler, thrush nightingale, lemon-breasted canary, greyheaded parrot, mottled spinetail, Bohm's spinetail, African finfoot, Dickinson's kestrel, thickbilled cuckoo, crested guineafowl, Pel's fishing owl, rock martin, goldenbacked pytilia, burnt-necked eremomela, rackettailed roller, broad-billed roller, yellowbilled oxpecker, whitebacked night heron, brown-backed honeybird, narina trogon, Eastern nicator, silverycheeked hornbill, mangrove kingfisher and African pitta.
