Retief has been working as a safari/field guide in places like Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa.

Although loving nature in all of her diverseness, his special interests are birds, reptiles and amphibians (go frogging with him in the wetter months!). When it comes to the bigger animals, the leopards always seem to win his soft spot. If you are interested in the smaller things that are so easily overlooked whilst driving on a game viewing vehicle, or feel like tracking the big cats, or want to know more when it comes to environmental issues, Retief always loves to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with his guests.

Ever since I was a little boy I had an extreme passion for nature. 20 years later I am still as enthusiastic and even more passionate than ever. I am very blessed to be living out my passion and to be able to share my passion and the secrets that nature holds with people from everywhere. I am of the firm belief that being in nature is more than a sensual experience and it touches ones soul and can help to clear your mind, heals and holds the greatest adventures in store. Since I have started doing safaris I fell in love with doing walking safaris and getting up close to everything. It is at this level where you can experience nature to its fullest.

If I look at society around me, it seems that everybody is searching for a simpler life, as if they are yearning for a life that held more than just a frantic chase after material things and technology. Although these things are great I think that every human needs to escape these things and just discover themselves again. Nature is perfect, there is no greed, corruption or personal gain, and everything is exactly in harmony. In a world that is going green, it is becoming clear that more and more people want a personal experience with this spectacular, incredible and awesome planet we have.
